It’s rich in antioxidants and detoxifying benefits that give a boost to your immune system, and may help  reduce your risk of certain diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and diabetes.

The benefits of green tea comes from its catechins. Catechins are powerful antioxidants that fight off cell damage. Green tea is touted for improving blood flow and lower cholesterol levels, and may help prevent a range of heart-related issues. When making a cup of green tea, it’s best to just heat the water to a simmer, but not to a boiling point, because the heat from steeping the tea in boiling water can destroy the benefits of catechins.  Ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory and it stimulates digestion and aids in proper absorption of nutrients from foods.

Juicy and sweet oranges are renowned for their concentration of vitamin C.  One of the roles of vitamin C is to protect cells by neutralizing free radicals.   Oranges also provide potassium, an electrolyte mineral responsible for normal heart function. Potassium works together with calcium, magnesium and sodium, to  maintain optimal fluid levels in our cells. Oranges are also rich in vitamin A, which helot to protect your eyes. Carotenoid compounds of vitamin A, like lutein, beta carotene and zeaxanthin, can help prevent age-related macular degeneration (a leading cause of blindness). Besides being loaded with nutritional perks, this detox drink recipe is a delicious and fun healthy drink to sip on during warmer months, or use it in your arsenal and sip on it warm when under the weather and fighting a cold or virus.
